Technology & innovation festival SuperNova unveils future vision and first speakers
Following a triumphant 2024 edition headlined by President Barack Obama, SuperNova is gearing up for an even more ambitious 2025. The festival aims to foster collaboration between companies, startups, and investors, cementing Belgium’s position as a global hub for technological innovation and entrepreneurship.
A bold future for SuperNova
Antwerp, December 19, 2024 - SuperNova is not just an event; it’s a catalyst for innovation and economic growth. This year, it attracted thousands of participants, over 100 speakers, and approximately 250 Belgian and international investors. The pre-opening night even featured former U.S. President Barack Obama. Positioned alongside prestigious events like Slush in Helsinki, TNW in Amsterdam, and Vivatech in Paris, SuperNova has become a fixture for innovators, startups, investors, and tech enthusiasts. And the festival isn’t stopping there.
We’ve succeeded in creating a truly unique atmosphere at SuperNova,” says Jürgen Ingels, SuperNova’s founder. “By prioritizing quality and fostering meaningful connections, we’ve impressed even the most prominent international speakers and investors.
An inspiring line-up of visionary speakers
SuperNova is a two-day think tank designed to inspire through success stories and practical insights. This year’s initial speaker lineup is as impressive as ever: International tech analyst Benedict Evans will discuss the transformative impact of AI. Nick Leeson, the infamous “Rogue Trader,” will highlight the critical importance of financial regulation. Former astronaut Marsha Ivins will explore how space innovation shapes industries on Earth. Other speakers include Tim Malbon, digital product partner for brands like Nike and Spotify, and IDEO’s Becca Carroll, delving into the future of money. Clay Parker Jones will offer a behind-the-scenes look at organizational design, while Conn Bertish will inspire with his insights on creativity and resilience. Local luminaries like Marc Coucke, Dimitri O, and designer Lowie Vermeersch will also share their perspectives on achieving ambitious goals.
A hub for collaboration and connections
SuperNova places a strong emphasis on building connections. With initiatives like Meet the Innovators, Café Connect, the Investor Lounge, the FinTech Area, and a matchmaking app, attendees will have ample opportunities to network. A two-day pop-up coworking space will further facilitate collaboration among startups, companies, and investors.
We envision SuperNova as an annual event,” says Leen Anthuenis, CEO of SuperNova. “Collaboration between the business community, startups, and investors is essential to positioning Flanders and Belgium as a leading global hub for technological innovation. Last year’s edition successfully activated partnerships between startups and investors. This year, we’re focusing on strengthening ties between startups and larger corporations.
Empowering the Next Generation
SuperNova is also committed to nurturing young talent. The Future, a dedicated event for student entrepreneurs, will take place on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Up to 1,000 students and young entrepreneurs will have the chance to network, pitch their ideas, and learn from inspirational speakers. It’s clear: the future of innovative Belgium is in great hands.
