Anna Lee Fisher

Dr. Anna Lee Fisher is an American astronaut, chemist, and physician, best known as the first mother to travel in space. Selected as a NASA astronaut in 1978, she flew on the Space Shuttle Discovery's STS-51-A mission in 1984. In addition to her spaceflight, Fisher contributed to NASA's Space Shuttle program and served as a Capsule Communicator for several missions. After retiring in 2017, she continued to inspire others by advocating for women in science and space exploration. Fisher holds degrees in Chemistry and Medicine from UCLA.
