Matthias Diependaele

Minister-President Flemish Government

MATTHIAS DIEPENDAELE is the Minister-President of the Flemish Government.

He pursued law studies at KU Leuven, specializing in international and European law. Early in his career, he served as a political assistant in the European Parliament.

At the age of 29, Diependaele was elected to the Flemish Parliament. By 2013, he ascended to the role of N-VA faction leader, a position he retained following the 2014 elections. After the elections in 2019, he was appointed as the Flemish Minister of Finance and Budget, Housing, and Immovable Heritage. Now he serves -in addition to his role as Minister-President-, as the Flemish Minister of Economy, Innovation and Industry, Foreign Affairs, Digitalization, and Facility Management.
