Gert-Jan works as information security officer for the Bancontact company, as a member of the Architecture, Technology & Security team. The core responsibility is to ensure all 2,5 billion payment transactions processed yearly are done in a secure way. Before Bancontact, Gert-Jan worked in the fintech industry for Worldline and Ingenico as security architect. In this role he was part of the global architecture organisation to provide design and validation for the different business lines. He started his career in cybersecurity as an ethical hacker where he experienced the offensive side of the security domain. Recently, Gert-Jan co-founded the startup Stack Canaries. They are at the forefront of protecting Europe's cloud infrastructure. With their cutting-edge cybersecurity SaaS platform, the are on a mission to advance the cybersecurity of European Cloud providers. Stack Canaries is part of KBC's Start it Accelerate program.
