Jorn Lapon is Research Manager Secure Software at the DistriNet Research Group of KU Leuven (Ghent campus). In this role, he supports research strategy and coordination, and fosters collaboration between academia and industry. He coordinates strategic basic and applied research in cybersecurity, with a focus on secure and distributed software systems, particularly in embedded and IoT environments. He holds a PhD in cybersecurity from KU Leuven (2012) and brings hands-on experience from both academic and industrial settings, enabling him to bridge long-term research vision with real-world constraints. He is closely involved in the supervision of four PhD researchers and contributes to research projects with practical impact, including secure development practices and security testing.
