Kurt has been active in the field of Cybersecurity for more than 15 years. He built a 20-year career at Howest University of Applied Sciences in Bruges, where he served as a lecturer, researcher, research manager, and valorisation manager. He initiated and implemented the Cybersecurity study programme at Howest, which has since gained international recognition. In 2023, Kurt was awarded the title of Belgium's Cybersecurity Researcher of the Year.

Beyond cybersecurity, Kurt is an expert in Digital Transformation with specialisations in Artificial Intelligence, AR/VR, Web3 (including Blockchain and Solid), Game Technology, and Cybersecurity. He is an active member of the Belgian Cyber Coalition vzw and is widely regarded as a GRC specialist with deep expertise in NIS2, DORA, and CRA.

Kurt has built an extensive professional network and combines this with strong dedication and work ethic to achieve impactful results.

Since July 2024, Kurt has been active at Capyx NV, where he serves as Business Line Director Cybersecurity & AI, further strengthening the company’s strategic direction in cybersecurity, artificial intelligence, and digital innovation.
