Nele is an experienced life sciences valorisation and innovation leader with a strong track record in bridging academic research and real-world impact. She currently serves as Valorisation Manager — Life Sciences at the Valorisation Office of the University of Antwerp, where she focuses on advancing pharmaceutical and biotechnology projects by facilitating collaborations between academic researchers and industry partners, negotiating contracts, and supporting the translation of fundamental discoveries into societally relevant outcomes. Nele holds a PhD in Biomedical Sciences from KU Leuven and began her career as a scientist specializing in in vivo translational models. She has since expanded her expertise into leadership roles in the biotech sector, including serving as CEO of a start-up company, giving her firsthand experience in managing early-stage biotech ventures and navigating the challenges of innovation and enterprise growth. With a passion for fostering impactful research and a deep understanding of both scientific and commercial landscapes, Nele is dedicated to creating value from scientific excellence and strengthening the ecosystem that connects research, enterprise, and societal benefit.
