BIOFIBIX is a supplier of flax fabrics for lightweight composite applications. Flax is in high demand for its performance, natural appeal, and sustainability. Yet despite growing interest, mass adoption has been limited by high costs, excessive resin uptake, and sensitivity to moisture. BIOFIBIX addresses these challenges with a unique fiber treatment, a cost-effective production process, and a controlled flax supply chain. BIOFIBIX is a spin-off from KU Leuven, where the fiber treatment and cost-effective process were developed. Supported by shareholder Vanacker Rumbeke, a third-generation flax grower and scutcher based in Belgium’s traditional flax region, BIOFIBIX manages the entire supply chain from field to flax reinforcement, ensuring consistent quality and price stability.
