About us

Hospitals struggle to keep surgical schedules on track. Delays in one procedure often cascade throughout the day, affecting staff coordination, room availability, and patient flow. A key contributor to this instability is how surgical instrument sets are handled after each procedure. Sets must be verified for completeness after every surgery, yet this is difficult in practice: large numbers of often similar instruments are used during surgery, while the time between procedures is limited. Manual verification is therefore error-prone, and missing instruments are frequently detected late, when their impact on subsequent procedures is already significant. This challenge is compounded by overfilled instrument sets — typically only 15–25% of instruments in a set are actually used — reducing overview and increasing the likelihood of errors and delays.

Lynqo addresses these challenges by monitoring instrument use directly in the operating room using computer vision. The system detects instruments as they are picked up and returned, without monitoring staff or patients or requiring changes to existing workflows. The sequence and timing of instrument use provide additional insight into the progression of a surgical procedure, enabling better anticipation of delays and coordination of consecutive surgeries.

Lynqo is built by a multidisciplinary founding team combining engineering, product, and healthcare expertise, and is deeply embedded in the clinical ecosystem. The company works closely with Sint-Jan Hospital in Bruges as its primary strategic hospital partner and development environment, where earlier on-site validations informed key product and workflow decisions. Additional collaborations include ZAS (Europe’s third-largest hospital group) and AZORG, enabling validation across diverse hospital contexts. This strong clinical embedding has been externally recognised through Lynqo’s nomination for the Hospital Impact Award in Belgium.
