ReVision Implant is a Belgian neurotechnology company developing the world’s first cortical visual prosthesis to provide functional artificial vision to people with severe visual impairment or blindness.Its novel approach is based on direct stimulation of the visual cortex using ultra-thin, flexible, polymer-based microelectrode arrays, approximately one-fifth the thickness of a human hair. This exceptional mechanical compliance closely matches brain tissue, resulting in excellent biocompatibility and a demonstratedd multi-decade longevity. Visual information is captured by a pair of camera-equipped glasses and wirelessly transmitted to the implant, enabling blind patients to navigate unfamiliar environments and regain the ability to recognize faces.Founded in 2020, ReVision Implant is now transitioning toward first-in-human clinical trials.
